I am Nurulaji T. Jul. I was born on September 27, 1986. We are eleven in our family including our parents. I have two elder sisters and six brothers. My father is a fisherman and my mother is a plain housewife only. I grew up in my auntie's place in a small town of Sultan Kudarat. I finished both my elementary and secondary year in Kalamansig, a province of Sultan Kudarat. After my high school, I decided to come here in Davao and continue my college year but unfortunately my parents cannot sustain my studies anymore. I worked in one of the shopping centers in Davao for about a year. While working in that place, I realized that this is not the life that I wanted to have, so together with my eagerness to pursue my studies, at that time, took up Biology in USEP. I applied for scholarships but was not realized successfully. I still didn't give up since I know life won't stop there. I told myself that I must move on. This time, I enrolled myself at University of Mindanao as a Nursing student. As I was studying Nursing, I realized that my sister and I cannot meet the financial needs of this course. Even though it was against my will, I decided not to continue my studies. I almost lost hope to continue Nursing not until I met MCI. I learned about MCI through Anidah (MCI scholar) who happened to be my classmate in a Chemistry subject. I felt compelled like something told me to talk to her, so I did talk to her. We easily became friends since we're both Muslims. She heard about my plan of quitting school so she invited me to visit MCI website. Without hesitance, I applied online on MCI website. Sir Aland replied on that same day asking me to come and visit him at Turkish Coffee Shop. That was when my MCI journey begins. I am filled with gratefulness to MCI that I am currently enrolled as a Nursing student of University of Mindanao.
I joined the study forum every Saturday regularly and learn about current issues and exchanged opinions and ideas with MCI scholars. In a matter of a month, I finally was accepted as a MCI scholar. It was the best day that ever happened in my life. MCI opened a new door for my dreams to be achieved. I can't find the best words to describe how I really felt at that particular moment when accepted as a MCI scholar. MCI is an angel that God has sent to me. MCI also teaches me a lot of things in reality. Not only does MCI provide financial support for my education but they also teach me on how to a person with values and discipline. I learn how to be brave when facing the trials and to develop into a more mature person. Thanks to you MCI.
