MCI President Mizell met Philippine Vice President Binay

DAVAO CITY - Vice President Jejomar "Jojo" Binay spoke at the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) 8th General Membership Meeting at Marco Polo Hotel where he was the guest of honor.

The Vice President, who accepted the offer of President Aquino to head the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), said he has been meeting with organizations and foreign governments that have shown interest in investing in low-cost housing projects in the country.

Vice president Binay said he is fan of free market capitalism. VP Binay believes that politics and economics. The guest of honor shared his passionate belief on unrestricted capitalism that is motivated by profit and self-interest. Binay added that the free-market capitalism has the potential to solve all other economic problems. He imparted the Philippine government should have limited role and let the creative force perform it. He quoted Milton Friedman, one of the most influential economists, " if you put the government in charge of the Sahara desert, in five years there would be shortage of sand." Binay said that he also wants to study the South Korea's low-cost housing plan. Vice president Binay said that the Korean government has concrete plans to invest in a massive housing program in the country. In fact, South Korea has been noted to currently top the list of investors among the other foreigner countries such as Japan and China.
