MCI Invites State Representative Dan Flynn to Philippines

Flynn makes plans to expand student exchange program with TAMU-Commerce;
Intends to improve commerce relations in finance and nursing

Greenville, TEXAS - Rep. Dan Flynn returned this week to Texas from a week-long visit to the Philippines as an invitation of Minority Care International in the person of its president, Dr. Aland Mizell.  State Rep. Dan Flynn held meetings with key officials, addressed the Davao City Council, and made a presentation at the University of Mindanao.

"Sharing the way of life in House District 2, my experience in banking in both the private and public sector, and the role of Texas' State Legislature with the people of Davao was a highlight of my career and a privilege which I feel honored to have been given," stated Flynn.

Flynn has made it one of his top priorities to increase public awareness about the role House District 2 in partnering with the University of Mindanao, which is in Davao City in the Philippines.

"The University of A&M-Commerce has an agreement with the University of Mindanao that allows the admittance of Filipino students for enrollment and establishes a Cross-Cultural Studies Exchange and Internship Program," advised Flynn.

With the aid of Minority Care International ("MCI"), a charitable non-governmental, non-profit organization, A&M-Commerce and the University of Mindanao allow students to participate and benefit from a unique exchange program. MCI was established due help cure the poverty and violence in the southern Philippines. The cross-university program intends to uplift the impoverished through economic and educational development. The students are studying business and nursing,

"It is a source of great pride to know that the people and institutions of House District 2 provide workplace skills and greater opportunities to the students in Davao," commented Flynn. "I look forward to working with TAMU-Commerce president Dan Jones to expand this valuable exchange program."

The nursing students work part-time in local medical facilities and the business students are employed a Trust Services, Inc., a financial company owned and operated by Greenville citizen Dee Hilton.

Rep. Flynn also was a key-note speaker at the University of Mindanao, at an International Public Forum on "Prospects and Opportunities of the Banking Industry in Southeast Asia: Risks and Policy Changes." Flynn addressed a large public crowd, answered questions, and met privately with the President of the University, Willie Torres. Flynn communicated the importance of entrepreneurship and sensible regulations to help solve social issues by bringing hope and dignity to the people of the Philippines.
