Importance of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is one of the most valuable moral values in our life. It is considered a precious value that a person should practice to have. Forgiveness is best taught by God and how He readily forgives and gives us a second chance. God commanded His children to love one another and forgive one another as He forgives us. He best taught us how to forgive despite shortcomings, mistakes and disappointment other people can afford us.

Forgiveness
is all about personal power. You have the sole control of how to achieve positive things in your life. We are born humans and naturally imperfect as we are. This imperfection makes us vulnerable to committing mistakes and possibly getting hurt and angry in the process. This is where forgiveness comes in the picture. Forgiveness fills the gap made by the grievances produced by shortcomings, mishaps and faults that other people may have done. To choose forgiveness is bended toward tolerance of the ill-mannered.

As a scholar of Minority Care International (MCI), I learned values integrated into my life from the discussions in our study forum as well as study camp. Forgiveness is one of them. I realize that nobody is perfect. My tolerance toward humanly mistakes and imperfections was put to the test. I was deeply moved by the test I came face to face with. My sister was the instrument God purposely used for this test of character. My sister chose a different path in her life which wasn't what my parents want her to take. She made a mistake that I had trouble understanding. After some time, I chose to forgive my sister despite the mistake she made. With the forgiveness I leaned from MCI study forum, I realized that I should have a grateful heart rather than an angry heart towards those who did me wrong.

The Lord clearly accepts us for who we are so I should glorify Him by loving one another. We should keep in mind that God commands us grow in faith and in love. I chose to be a person inspired by faith and love for others by offering forgiveness. Forgiveness truly purifies our hearts by letting go of the hate and anger pent up inside our hearts. We should never neglect the truth of doing what is morally correct reflecting in our actions and behavior. I found peace of mind by granting forgiveness to my sister. Most of all, forgiveness enables us to love the person but hate the sin.
